How long can the owner buy it back?
In Texas, a former owner can redeem a property after a tax sale by repaying the buyer plus a premium. The clock starts when the buyer’s deed is recorded. The county lists don’t say which deadline applies, so we estimate it from appraisal-district records.
- 180 days
- Most property: rentals, vacant lots and commercial buildings. The owner pays a premium of up to 25%.
- 2 years
- A homestead, or land with an agricultural appraisal, when the tax suit was filed. The premium is 25% in the first year and 50% in the second.
- Check
- The records don’t settle it, or the sale needs a closer look. Ask the county before you bid.
“Likely” beside a label means the appraisal records support it. It is still an estimate. How each label is decided, with the Tex. Tax Code §34.21 citations.

Between now and the sale
Most listed properties never reach the bidding, because owners pay and cases are pulled in the weeks before. At Tarrant County’s last 2 sales, 58 of 62 listed properties were withdrawn and 4 sold. We check the lists every week, so you can follow what is still for sale.
- What changed since the last check: no changes. Also as an Atom feed.
- Sale calendar, which you can add to your own calendar app.
- Your bid sheet: saved properties with your notes, stage and maximum bid, and what the owner would owe to buy one back.
- Past sales: which properties sold, were struck off or were withdrawn.
